she’s legal!

Behold, my first drink under the auspices of the United States government:

Yes, today would be my 21st birthday :D And that would be a mimosa.

Went to the lovely Piattini on Newbury Street. Sat outside and admired this:

Lest the alcohol go straight to my novice head, I blunted its effects with this beauty:

I realized while eating this that I’ve had gnocchi on my birthday 3 YEARS IN A ROW. I can never figure out whether I have a favorite food, but given that I’ve chosen to include it on the day I allow myself to eat whatever I want 3 years in a row, I may have one without realizing it.

They very amusingly called this a “small plate”. I couldn’t finish it, though I put in a champ effort. It had heavenly spinach gnocchi, creamy basil pesto sauce, and crazy delish red and yellow tomatoes.

And I sopped it up with this heavenly stuff:

Scrummy fresh baked sourdough. I had one of them, though I was touched they went for a whole “bread basket” for one person.

After this meal, I felt a little dazed, but I definitely think it was carbs, not champagne!

Also, I was amused that the gnocchi was $7.50 and the mimosa was $8.75. Welcome to purchasing alcohol!

Since my friends all were busy and in general don’t seem to like me very much, my dining companion for this meal was Stuff Boston Magazine’s annual dining awards. I was happy!

Happy Birthday Lele!

And good observation about the price of alcohol. You should check out the happy hours at the restaurants in your area (i bet there are tons of cool places in boston). Usually, the price of drinks is much more reasonable.

My very first legal drink was a Cosmopolitan and I thought the same thing - sheesh this costs as much as my meal!
