My posting has been a bit sporadic lately (hah I wrote that and realized it had been two days… God, I need a job). But anyway, I’ve been a bit distracted and a bit blue, as there’s been a rather unfortunate upsurge in people in my life dying.
But life goes on.
Things I forget:
1. I really like Romaine lettuce.
I sometimes mentally consign it to the “crunchy but dull” department with iceberg and the like, but it isn’t! It tastes good! It was on sale, so I jumped, and I’m glad I did.
It tastes especially good as a rather delicious steak salad.
I thinly sliced the last of the carne asada, along with some shrooms and red onion, and put it on a Romaine base. With a simple shallot and parsley vinaigrette, it was a seriously stellar meal.
We also had bread and a bazillion kinds of dip. We are down to like two kinds of dip now… random dippages have been a big part of our meals! We had the taramosalata, labneh, lentil-olive, artichoke, AND hummus.
Another thing I forgot:
2. I still have a gazillion Newman’s Own Organics products to review! The latest:
This one was exceptional. It is definitely one where you take the initial bite and this transformation happens when the heat from your mouth starts to melt it… it positively blooms on your tongue, a seriously rich and luscious marriage of bitter coffee, creamy milk, warm chocolate…. mm mm.
Finally, I forget (and then sadly remember)
3. I freaking love sweet potatoes, but they just do not photograph well.
Tonight’s pre-memorial-service, eat-in-a-hurry dinner:
An oven baked sweet potato (actually we had more MAMMOTH sweet potatoes- they were FOURTEEN OUNCES EACH, that is ALMOST A POUND!- so it is 2/3 of one) topped with the last of some chicken chili that I frozen when Lent began and some cheese.
Good in my mouth and my belly, not on my camera.
This post is a little blah. I am a little blah. Apologies!
